With the opening of the lunch restaurant, all premises in the New Hanza Offices M office building at 1 M.Tāla Street have been leased

In mid-February, the lunch restaurant Tower Cafe opened in the New Hanza Offices building at 1 M. Tāla Street. The café offers its customers not only a lunch menu, but also a rich breakfast selection and an à la carte lunch menu. Meals can be enjoyed on-site or taken away. Not only the building’s tenants, but anyone in the surrounding area is welcome for a relaxed coffee break, a hearty breakfast, or a satisfying lunch.
Sanita Ausekle, Manager of Tower Cafe: “Tower Cafe New Hanza was created with great care and patience. The journey has been long, but we are truly happy with the result. Like Pillar, we believe that quality is shaped by details, where no element is insignificant. We offer hearty breakfasts throughout the day, a changing lunch menu including delicious vegetarian options, our own freshly baked bread, and excellent Kalve coffee – all created with respect for taste and quality.”
The interior design of the restaurant premises was developed by designer Anda Ozoliņa. The interior boldly experiments with materials, colors, and textures, taking the surrounding environment into account. The design is restrained yet warm. “The New Hanza developer Pillar had clearly defined the task of creating a democratic interior suited to the dynamic urban environment, where it is possible to safely experiment with materials. In the nearly 300 m² space, exposed concrete ceilings and walls coexist perfectly, while lighting fixtures, upholstered sofas, and medium-sized indoor plants add coziness and warmth. The orange-brown brick wall gives the space a distinctive character,” explained A. Ozoliņa.
The New Hanza Offices building at 1 M. Tāla Street was commissioned in September 2023. One of the three sections of the office building is dedicated to medical use – it is home to the modern medical and surgery center New Hanza Med. The building also houses the Ferrari automobile brand showroom Cavallino Riga.
The office building consists of three sections with a total area of 16,700 m². The building has received several construction awards, including being recognized as the most sustainable project in the Baltics in 2022 at the international competition “Sustainability in Architecture, Construction, Design.” At the “Best Building of the Year in Latvia 2023” competition, it received two awards – second place in the Public New Building category and first place in the BIM Project category. The building has been awarded a BREEAM Excellent level certificate.
Pillar continues to develop the New Hanza quarter, shaping it into one of the most significant contemporary urban projects in Riga. The next step in this development will be the construction of a new multifunctional office building next to the Hanzas Perons cultural venue, creating a symbolic entrance to the New Hanza quarter. In the architectural design competition organized by Pillar, the proposal by the Italian architecture firm Piuarch was selected as the best.
The total area of the new building will be approximately 8,200 m², with modern, adaptable office spaces located on the upper floors. A restaurant and commercial premises are planned for the ground floor. A new square is also planned next to the building, which will encourage pedestrian flow between the quarter’s facilities. Construction work is scheduled to begin in early 2027.
